“The beautiful star rises in the sky, she heralds the New Year at the beginning of her festival. The Nile breaks its banks, the earth is flooded with her waters, and the fields are green again at her sight.”
— Inscription from the Temple of Edfu
Peret Sopdet
The Real Lion’s Gate

The Star is Rising
In ancient Egypt, the brightest star in the night sky governed everything.
Sirius, Sopdet to the Egyptians, rises heliacally once a year. Just before dawn, after months of invisibility, it reappears in the pre-dawn sky. And when it did, the Egyptians knew: the Nile is about to flood. Abundance is coming. The year is beginning again.
Feast Days were created for this moment. Not one. Many. Each with its own ceremony, its own deity, its own medicine. They called the whole cycle Peret Sopdet — the Rising of Sopdet — and they celebrated it for thousands of years.
This is that ceremony. Rebuilt for our time. Worked with the full weight of what the Egyptians actually knew.
Eight spots. One talisman for each participant, hand-selected and consecrated across all four ceremonial nights.
This is not the Instagram Lion’s Gate.
This is the real thing.

Four Interconnected Ceremonies
Rite One: The Pre-Charging of the Gods
August 1, 2026 — The Heliacal Rising of Sirius over San Antonio (mi casa)
The Ancient Rite: At the exact moment Sirius became visible, the silver and gold statues of the gods were carried from the lowest basement levels of the temple to the rooftop — so that they could catch the first rays of starlight and be re-invigorated for another year of work and service.
The Modern Working: Your talisman is taken out under the first visible rays of Sirius. You — your energy, your vitality, your capacity — are re-invigorated at every level for another year. The star feeds what is yours.
Rite Two: The Pacification of Sekhmet
The Festival of the Lioness
The Ancient Rite: A rowdy feast of drinking and dancing in honor of Sekhmet, the lion goddess, coinciding with the rising of the Nile’s red floodwaters. Her hunger was honored. Her ferocity was propitiated. Her protection was secured.
The Modern Working: Sekhmet is the goddess who devours disease and illness. As we prepare to enter the second half of the year, we all carry what needs to be devoured — physical, mental, soul-level. This rite hands those burdens to the lion goddess. She is propitiated with her favorite offerings. Her protection over you for the remainder of the year is sought and secured.
Rite Three: The Abundance Blessing
August 8, 2026 — The So-Called Lion’s Gate
The Ancient Rite: The flooding of the Nile was the new year. Gifts were exchanged. Prayers for the coming year were offered. Sopdet lit the sky and the path ahead. Abundance was not just hoped for, it was ceremonially welcomed in.
The Modern Working: You send your petition — what abundance you are seeking in the year ahead. On 8/8, with Jupiter in Leo lending its full weight to the working, those petitions are offered up to Sirius. Your talisman is consecrated and blessed with the abundance blessing on this night, in preparation for being sent to you.
Rite Four: The Ancestor Awakening
The Closing of the Feast Days
The Ancient Rite: The feast days concluded with prayers of thanks and acknowledgment of those who came before. The ancestors were not forgotten in the abundance. They were invited into it.
The Modern Working: As we prepare to enter our ancestor season in the months ahead, this rite opens and clears the lines of communication between you and your ancestral lines. The most magical time of the year is coming. This working ensures you do not arrive at it cold.
