Unveiling Hidden Magic: If You Know Where to Look
Unveiling Hidden Magic: Owl calls.
The first time I heard them they were so distinct, so clear, that I knew I would never forget the sound.
And an interesting thing happened. I began to hear Owl calls, even very faint, far away hoots and cries, and I began to see Owls as well, where before I had not.
What was this phenomena?
Was I simply hearing other sounds like dogs barking and attributing it to those winged wonders?
No. I knew that wasn’t it, because I often saw them as well.
So what was happening?
I learned that just as there are things you cannot unsee, there are also things you cannot unhear. That once you have heard the low call of an Owl shocking through the early, early, morning air, or seen the flash of light on the wing of a monarch butterfly, or tasted wild honey on your tongue there is no going back to before.
You are marked.
Going forward you will taste the presence of honey in a dish (or note its absence).
You will see the monarchs when they pass through and know something of what they are.
You’ll be able to hear owl calls where before you couldn’t…not because you are engaging in fantasy, but because you know what you are listening for…and its everywhere if you know where to look.
In the early days of the New Year there is one question that I am frequently asked…what can I do to ensure that X happens this year?
Sometimes X is a specific goal or set of goals.
Sometimes X is a delightful whimsy.
Sometimes is a BIG dream.
Depending on the goal, whimsy, or dream, there are many things that can be done.
Practical actions can be taken, teachers and coaches sought out, new skills learned.
Yes.
All good things.
And I cannot help but think of my beloved, cool-eyed, owls and their calls. I note how similar my experience with them is to magic. How magic has been with humans since there have been humans, how the Sacred Arts are the first arts, how both are alive and well today, waiting to be seen, to be heard, to be called upon. Everywhere, if you know where to look.
Every successful person I know calls on magic in some form – not metaphorical magic, but real, candle-burning, ceremony-making, magic. Once you know what to look for, you’ll see it everywhere, in the very air we breathe, much like those Owl calls. It’s the shimmering extra that elevated and enlivens our dreams, the way to ensure success on all levels.
Like owls and butterflies and honey, Unveiling Hidden Magic is often hidden in plain sight, but once you see it, you won’t be able to go back to before…and you’ll be ready to paint your dreams with its colors.
