strology for February 2020

Note for February: Hola Miracles! Sooo…February! We have Valentine’s Day, three planets that change signs this month and…the first Mercury Retrograde of 2020! I have a bunch of articles on Mercury RX in Pisces that will help give you the lay of the land and a feeling of what to expect. The fact that Mars moves into Capricorn on the same day that Mercury goes retrograde means that we have serious organization energy behind us so make like Marie Kondo and get to cleaning up. If you want to add some magic to your cleaning/re-org regimes this article will help.

2/1: Happy and Blessed February and Imbolg/Candlemass for those who celebrate: https://brianasaussy.com/blessed-imbolg-and-happy-candlemas/

2/1: February kicks off with a square between the Aquarius Sun and Taurus Moon.
Ask: How can I bring more freedom to a place I currently feel stuck in?

2/1: Waxing Quarter at 12 degrees Taurus, 7:42 PM. This is the perfect time to brush up on your divination practice! https://brianasaussy.com/teaching/20-question-tarot/
Ask: What pleasure am I ready to meet?

2/3: Mercury moves into Pisces. Clarity around dreams, art-making, and spirituality abounds but watch out for overly emotional outbursts!
Ask: What are my feelings trying to tell me?

2/7: Venus moves into Aries. This positioning can bring out the selfish and greedy aspects in all of us. Boundaries around giving and taking will be brought to your attention during this transit.
Ask: Where do I need to give more and where do I need to take more?

2/9: Full Moon at 20 degrees Leo, 1:33 AM. Some ideas for how to work with the Full Moon can be found here: https://brianasaussy.com/how-to-honor-the-full-moon/ and here: https://brianasaussy.com/six-months-of-magic-every-full-moon/
Ask: What is my relationship with courage?

2/14: Happy Valentine’s Day! (Given the upcoming Mercury RX in Pisces on 2/16, I recommend that you keep Vday spending at a moderate level and hold off on big announcement or plans or, ahem, proposals, until AFTER the RX period is over).

2/15: Waning Quarter Moon at 26 degrees Scorpio, 4:17 PM. Reminder that this is a great time to banish: https://brianasaussy.com/what-are-you-really-banishing/
Ask: What inherited stories are I ready to acknowledge?

2/16: Mercury Retrograde begins! February 16th – March 9, 2020: Retrograde starts at 6:54 PM in Pisces, moves into Aquarius on March 3rd and stations direct on March 9th at 10:49 PM. For more on Mercury Retrogrades, check out this post.
Ask: What spiritual practices are ready to be reviewed?

2/16: Mars moves into Capricorn. Get ready to start a major project, get yourself organized, and find the structures that work best for you.
Ask: What am I ready to overhaul and optimize?

2/18: Sun enters Pisces 10:57 PM
Ask: What dream am I ready to follow?

2/21: Mars in Capricorn trines Uranus in Taurus. Anytime Mars and Uranus come together I advise caution and that goes extra during the Mercury RX period – make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get to appointments and avoid needlessly dangerous situations. This trine gives us a ton of physical energy so working out or starting a new fitness regime on this day is a big YES.
Ask: Where am I ready to move mountains?

2/23: New Moon at 4 degrees Pisces, 9:32 AM. Here are Four Ways to Honor the New Moon just in case you missed them: https://brianasaussy.com/4-ways-honor-new-moon/
Ask: What new prayer or blessing am I ready to commit to?

2/25: Sun conjunct Mercury (retrograde) in Pisces. Happy Mardi Gras – this is great astro to get carried away, awesome for partying but exercise moderation or you’ll regret it in the AM!
Ask: What emotions are ready to be highlighted?

2/28: Venus and Pluto square up today. Power trips, most especially in relationships and romance, are to be expected. At best this astro roots you in your sovereignty. At worst, it allows you to become an expert manipulator of emotions – or the victim of the same.
Ask: Where do I locate the power in my most intimate relationship?

2/29: Happy Leap Year!!! Lots of reversal magic is possible on this day!

strology for January 2020

Note for January: Hola Miracles! Just a quick note to give you the lay of the land in January. This month is going to feel pulled between the element of Earth and Water, it is old, deep, and Goddess-centered energy in many ways. This month kicks off with FIVE planets in the cardinal earth sign of Capricorn. The Capricorn energy is highlighted during the Pluto + Saturn conjunction on January 12th. This conjunction is very significant and I am hosting a free class where we will discuss it. Learn more + get the call-in details here. Water energy is brought in by the Full Moon + Lunar Eclipse in Cancer and also by the movement of Venus into Pisces where it grows closer and closer to dreamy Neptune right up until the 27th when they finally meet.

1/1: Happy and Blessed New Year my friends! I love doing this Seed Money Ritual anytime but especially as we usher in a brand new year! https://brianasaussy.com/seed-money-ritual/

1/2: Mercury and Jupiter get together to keep things happy, bright, and positive.
Ask: What messages of cheer am I ready to send and receive?

1/2: Waxing Quarter at 12 degrees Aries 8:45 pm. This is the perfect time to brush up on your divination practice! https://brianasaussy.com/teaching/20-question-tarot/
Ask: What fire wants to be kindled?

1/3: Mars moves into Sagittarius today and as it does we all feel more confident, capable, and ready to tackle even the toughest resolutions.
Ask: Where do I need to be bold?

1/10: Full Moon + Lunar Eclipse at 20 degrees Cancer 1:21 pm. Some ideas for how to work with the Full Moon can be found here: https://brianasaussy.com/how-to-honor-the-full-moon/ and here: https://brianasaussy.com/six-months-of-magic-every-full-moon/
Ask: What are my dreams telling me?

1/10: Uranus direct!
Ask: What did I learn about my future?

1/12: Pluto conjunct Saturn. This is a conjunction that occurs only every 34 years. It kicks off 2020 with an intense pairing. Saturn, the stern taskmaster encounters power player Pluto and this can impact us in a couple of different ways. On the one hand, we can be shadowy and sketchy about our pursuit of power, skirting the law and taking the easy way out in order to gain or keep the upper hand. On the other hand, this duo can inspire unparalleled discipline and potency that you can bring to your New Year’s Resolutions and any other area of life where you need it! You can also join me in some more Pluto/Saturn magic-making (including a free call) right here.
Ask: Where do I need to super-charge my discipline?

1/13: Venus moves into Pisces and has us all feeling more tender.
Ask: What is my relationship to compassion?

1/13: Neptune and Jupiter face off in a square today and it is the first of three such squares occurring this year. This is a high fantasy alert and may bring about warnings if you are involved in projects that are unrealistic or overly optimistic. On the other hand, you can work with the tension of this square to breathe practicality into your arts and dreams.
Ask: Where am I being too optimistic or unrealistic?

1/16: Mercury moves into Aquarius and things start to rock and roll because these two swift energies love to chat, think, and move!
Ask: What. brilliance. am I ready to share?

1/17: Waning Quarter at 26 degrees Libra, 6:58 AM. Reminder that this is a great time to banish: https://brianasaussy.com/what-are-you-really-banishing/
Ask: Where do I need to banish dependency?

1/20: Sun enters Aquarius 8:55 AM
Ask: What community am I ready to cultivate?

1/20: Sun enters Aquarius 3:04 AM
Ask: What community am I ready to cultivate?

1/23: Sun in Aquarius square Uranus in Taurus brings restless energy that can also leave you feeling thwarted. Try this: ground yourself in something outside of your comfort zone.
Ask: Where am I ready to experiment?

1/24: New Moon at 4 degrees, Aquarius 3:42 PM. Here are Four Ways to Honor the New Moon just in case you missed them: https://brianasaussy.com/4-ways-honor-new-moon/
Ask: What message am I ready to broadcast?

1/25: Lunar and Chinese New Year celebrating the Year of the Rat! Rat is the first sign in the Chinese zodiac and like rats, in real life, those born under this sign are seen as intelligent, funny, flexible, adaptable, and full of energy!

1/27: Neptune conjunct Venus in Pisces. Cue the waterworks or, alternatively, heartfelt connections, do NOT go spend a bunch of money or engage in essence-sucking fantasies that go nowhere. Great time for water/heart/love magics.
Ask: What emotional depths am I ready to explore?

1/28: Neptune square Mars is a day of low energy. Do relaxing/restorative exercises and steer clear of all kinds of excess.
Ask: What would be the best self-care for me today?

Hearth and Home Vol. 17: All Stars All the Time

Alchemy and Magic

M

Miracles, moon

Happy New Moon in Libra! I possessively consider this “my” New Moon. Why? I am doing some deep magic during this time, sowing seeds for even bigger magic that will come to fruit later on this month when the full moon occurs…on my birthday!

It is appropriate to begin this missive talking about the moon because I feel like I am saturated with brilliant moon-shine, stardust, and planetary frequencies. Did you know that the planets make sounds? I’m in full tilt astro mode because I’m working on my second book which is about astrology and parenting.

At the same time, I am preparing the Mercury Retrograde Survival Kit reports and the Star Stories for 2020. I am doing both of these reports pretty early because I think in both cases it is useful to have the information sooner.

For Mercury Retrograde especially I like people to have at least a week to work with their information before the planet retrogrades. In the case of the Star Stories, it is necessary to start early. Each report takes 3-4 hours to put together and I have 40 to complete! A lot of my clients do their planning for the next year in November and December, so I like them to have next year’s astro info as early as possible.

And of course, while tackling all of this, I’m still sharing far and wide the joy of my first book! I recently got to sit down with Michael Stone for an interview that covered a big range of topics: from magic (naturally enough) to enlightenment philosophy, to the importance of language. You can listen to it right here.

One of the most lovely things has been opening up my inbox to find wonderful little messages from readers who just adored the book and wanted to reach out and say hi. I’ve had several mental health professionals seek me out specifically and give the book accolades, and I’ve also heard from a couple of folks in locked institutions (ie, jail) who were deeply moved by the book.

To me, this is far and away higher praise than any award or top pick book list could confer. (One day I want to go into the energetics of writing a book because it is so fascinating, but that’s another story.) But the short version is: it takes a lot of out of you!

I was speaking to a client of mine who has a BIG book coming out next year (you’ll see her name in national media coverage) and she was talking about how much energy the output has been for her. I reminded her that she will receive energy back from the book. In the most obvious way, remuneration, which honestly is usually not very much at all; but the money is not really the most important consideration in this case. The real exchange is when people reach out to you and say…your book…changed something for me. That is the payoff, the knowledge not so much that someone likes your work, but that your work is out there, being of good use to others.

The other big piece of personal news is that after a 9 month sabbatical I am back on Facebook. Why did I return? Well, Sounds True, my amazing publisher, invited me to do a Facebook Live video in their private book club group and I saw a host of familiar faces, people I realized I only get to see on Facebook. So I thought about it, got clear on my intentions, and returned in a way that works for me and my busy life. You can see on my page evidence of this work. When I am on Facebook, I am conveying a steady beam of goodness out into the noisy, negative world. So my personal profile is full of inspiring news and my business page features information about upcoming events, recipes, enchantments, how-to’s, classes, offerings, and of course…books!

In October David and I celebrate our fourteenth year of marriage and 17th year of togetherness. He continues to be my true love and best friend. We still feel like we got married yesterday and, perhaps most importantly of all, we still have so much FUN together!

Then, right after that milestone, I’ll be celebrating my 39th birthday — wha??? As I indicated above, it is happening on the Full Moon in October so I’m pretty excited.

Heath has started going 2 days a week to our local day school. He is enjoying it although he did get mad at the teachers when they encouraged him to move from an art making project onto something else (typical of this family!) But great teachers as they are, they let him continue working on his pictures – something he loves doing with his daddy and big brother. Jasper is playing flag football and composing music, getting ready to start learning the ‘cello, and planning an elaborate Halloween costume that involves a piano and a Phantom of the Opera costume.

So…as we round out September I am celebrating a rich month and getting ready for another. I’ll be back around the Full Moon with a lunar letter that looks a little different, as I’ll be focusing on specific ways to make magic. So keep your eyes out for that! In the meantime, blessings of the season and pumpkin-spiced kisses!!!

Hearth and Home Vol. 16 Battery Sufficiently Charged

Uncategorized

M

iracles, sufficiently

Happy New Moon in Virgo!

I wake up early, a handful of hours before everyone else so that I can think and write, pray and drink coffee in the darkness and the quiet.

One of the first things I do is plug in my phone, which is usually on its last leg after the previous day’s phone calls, text messages, email checking, and news perusing. After I complete my morning rituals, I am greeted by the above message: “battery sufficiently charged.”

I especially like the modifying adverb sufficiently in this notification. This adverb is an early morning reminder that things don’t have to be perfect, they can be sufficient – and that sufficiency has its own beautiful perfection. Things can be, as I wrote in the book, just right.

Our time in New Mexico was sufficient, and we felt the push-pull that one feels on a longer vacation of wanting to stay longer, but also being ready to return home, even with the stifling heat and the crazy that is the few days leading up to the first day of school.

This year was a milestone for both boys. Jasper started the 2nd grade and Heath, our 14 month old, started going to his little day-school twice a week for half days.

David and I received a pleasant little surprise on the first day of Jasper’s school, which turned out to be Heath’s first day too. What started as a trip to Heath’s school to get paperwork, ended with the happy little one year old trundling off to the water pools with his teacher.

Monday turned out to be his scheduled day for fun, so we were in business. We looked at each other, much as, I imagine, parents do when they send their last child off to college or to work or to travel and are faced with an empty house, but we burst out laughing, feeling at the same time a little bereft and shocked, but totally elated.

A whole year and change have gone by since we introduced him to the world. Our life is back (sort of!) We went (floated in the sky, it felt like) to breakfast and had adult conversations that were not interrupted by feeding babies or wiping away spilled water, or hearing the latest knock-knock jokes. We went to breakfast to be together and hold hands and talk about…the kids. We totally talked about the kids! Of course, we did!

The new-found space of having both of the little ones in school was timed perfectly. I am knee-deep in writing, planning a magical retreat in Italy that I am SO excited for, and preparing for all of the astro magic of 2020 – get a sneak peek here.

David is editing and being an engaged dad to our little boys, making art and filling our home with music and doing a million other things too. And we are relishing the hours we have together.

There could always be more…more time, more space, more energy, but chasing after more is also so very exhausting. It feels better to actually enjoy where we are right now, to know and feel that right here is enough, sufficient, and just right.

So this Hearth and Home is for those of you who always feel behind or not quite up to par, or like your best efforts still come in somewhere around the middle of the heap: see if there isn’t something about your efforts that is sufficient, and that you are enough, exactly as you are, right here, and right now.
