A

strology for November 2020

Note for November: The big news for this month is right at the beginning with some truly wacky election day astrology. Mercury is up to all kinds of antics on election day and it is likely that snags, delays, and cries of no fair from both sides will be in the air by the evening and the following day. Keep a cool head and stay out of the drama for the best results. Uranus and Neptune get active near the end of the month giving us all things to be thankful for!

11/1: Daylight Savings Time Begins – Fall Back!

11/3: Voting in the United States for the 2020 Presidential Election – GO VOTE!!!

11/3: Mercury square Pluto. Not the greatest astro for election day here in the US as this square can encourage harsh behavior, manipulation, and dodgy tactics on behalf of all competitors who really want to win. Secrets and lies may abound.
Ask: What is really going on?

11/3: Mercury square Saturn. More difficulties on election day because this aspect can have things grinding to a halt and even though Mercury goes direct on this day there may be technical issues that create delays or unclear results.
Ask: What does the law want us to know?

11/3: Mercury square Jupiter. Watch out for extravagant gestures and promises that cannot possibly be delivered on. At best this is an idealistic transit that shows up what is possible. At worst it is a hangover we all recover from.
Ask: Where do I need to be more moderate?

11/3: Mercury goes Direct!!!

11/8: Waning Quarter Moon at 16 degrees Leo, 7:46 AM. A reminder that this is a great time to banish: https://brianasaussy.com/what-are-you-really-banishing/
Ask: What pride needs to be vanquished?

11/10: Mercury enters Scorpio. After it’s long retrograde Mercury returns to the lair of the Scorpion and once again our words can carry bite and sting. Mercury in Scorpio encourages us to communicate about deep and meaningful issues and we do that most effectively when we also remember to be kind.
Ask: What deep conversation am I ready to have?

11/12: Jupiter and Pluto Conjunction. This pairing occurs every 13 years. It is sometimes referred to as the “mogul” pairing and carries a lot of potential for creating deep wealth and money magic.
Ask: Where am I ready to deepen my wealth and abundance?

11/13: Mars goes Direct!!!

11/14: New Moon at 23 degrees Scorpio, 11:07 PM. Here are Four Ways to Honor the New Moon just in case you missed them: https://brianasaussy.com/4-ways-honor-new-moon/
Ask: What shadow am I ready to explore?

11/16: Venus square Jupiter. This square brings optimism, happiness, and a great benefit to those who align themselves with that energy.
Ask: What possibility am I ready to entertain?

11/17: Mercury opposed Uranus. This opposition can bring in brilliant insights and ideas but can also have your head so high up in the clouds that you forget to consider and attend to practical matters.
Ask: What brilliant insight is making itself known?

11/19: Venus square Saturn. This aspect brings about sadness, difficulties and a focus on loss. Focusing on where you lack and are not enough can go hand in hand with this astro weather as can a financial limit or set back.
Ask: Where do I need to forgive myself?

11/21: Venus enters Scorpio. When Venus enters Scorpio our sex and intimate lives become deeper and more important. This astrology can lead, on the one hand to deep healing through erotic relationships and love but on the other hand, it can lead to cray-cray obsessions and fixations that are nothing but bad news.
Ask: What intimacy am I ready to explore?

11/21: Waxing Quarter at 0 degrees Pisces, 10:45 PM. This is the perfect time to brush up on your divination practice! https://brianasaussy.com/teaching/20-question-tarot/
Ask: What does right relationship with my intuition look and feel like?

11/21: Sun enters Sagittarius 2:40 PM
Ask: What am I able to teach?

11/23: Mercury trine Neptune. This is a gentle day when rest, dwelling on something beautiful or applying your thoughts and energy to a creative or charitable project would be a very good thing.
Ask: Where can I help?

11/27: Venus opposed to Uranus. This aspect might bring a delightful surprise when it comes to love or money.
Ask: What unexpected gift will I say yes to?

11/28: Neptune goes Direct!!!

11/30: Full Moon + Lunar Eclipse at 8 degrees Gemini, 3:30 AM. Some ideas for how to work with the Full Moon can be found here: https://brianasaussy.com/how-to-honor-the-full-moon/ and here: https://brianasaussy.com/six-months-of-magic-every-full-moon/
Ask: What words matter most to me?

11/30: Lunar Eclipse at 8 degrees Gemini at 3:30 AM
Ask: What keeps me from articulating my message?    November November

Hearth and Home Vol. 23 ~ How Diamonds are Formed

Ceremony and Ritual

B

lessed New Moon in Libra, Miracles! diamonds

First and foremost, in honor of relationship-driven Libra, I created a new online community for all of us! If you have not yet checked out the Sacred Arts Academy please do! Joining is 100% free. Your request to join will have to be approved by me but I check in with the Academy pretty much every day so I’ll be happy to let you in! This is a community hosted on Mighty Networks and I am pretty impressed with their entire set up. One of the big challenges for me and our community of Soulful Seekers is that a lot of what we want to discuss is private, deep, and potent. My people have never been super comfortable sharing these aspects of themselves on the usual social media subjects but the Sacred Arts Academy feels different. People feel able to share in a safe space. And…it’s really pretty! Join right here.

One of the amazing things about the Sacred Arts community is that all of my courses and teachings are able to be housed there as well. I experimented with running my first course through this platform during the first full week of the month with about 60 other intrepid souls as we went Gathering the Bones with Santa Muerte. This was a week long training in Ancestor work, including some intermediate and advanced techniques and it was powerful, fun, and I learned a ton! That’s one of the main reasons why I teach – because I learn SO much along the way! We are gathering for the second and final week of training in November and we will be working with Hansel and Gretel as our guiding tale – I cannot wait! My students really responded beautifully to the new course design, layout, and dedicated forum – this stuff might sound boring to some of you but if you are running a web-based business or a magic’preneur then you know that finding the right platform is HUGE. I’m so glad I found this one!

In the middle of my teaching week, David and I celebrated 14 years of marriage and 17 years of togetherness! Thank you all for the incredibly sweet notes and congratulations. I wake up every day and feel so deeply blessed to have this man as my partner, helpmate, and best beloved! We kept our celebration low-key this year – both of the boys were in school – so mom and dad got to hang out together, have lunch together al fresco and without interruption, and then immerse ourselves in some serious big picture thinking, scheming, and dreaming. All I can say about that is…EXCITING THINGS ARE COMING!!!

Next, I celebrated my 40th(!!!) birthday first and foremost by VOTING. Early voting in Texas kicked off on my birthday this year and being the astrologer that I am, I wanted to vote BEFORE Mercury actually went retrograde. My husband and I are PROUD to be Ridin’ with Biden and Harris. We masked up, made our voices heard, and then took off to spend the rest of the day in frivolity and fun. Thanks too for all of the birthday wishes – ya’ll are the best!

This New Moon sees me walking along the edge of the shore down at the Gulf Coast, speaking to the Mother Ocean, and listening to what she has to say. It’s the perfect liminal place to be in a liminal year. Despite the awfulness of 2020, turning 40 this year feels very appropriate. Those of us who are were born in 1980 are a liminal group – the last year of GenX or the first year of the Millenials depending on who you talk to. Most of my friends are older than me and my husband is older so personally, I identify more with Gen X but there are also plenty of aspects of the Millenial generation that I appreciate – I feel like their conscience-raising awareness is the perfect pairing with Gen X’s wryness and cynicism. Most of all, I think those of us born this year can be translators between two generations and that is a needed thing.

I feel that 2020 is a year that will go into the history books not as the annus horibilis – the most horrible year, but rather as a year that made diamonds out of so many of us. We have been under such pressure in so many parts of the world – economic, political, legal, ethical, medical, etc, etc, that many of us have had no choice but to become harder, more resilient, more brilliant, and perhaps most importantly of all – more clear.

October is a blue moon month, so you will hear from me again before the month is out as we celebrate the Full Moon in Taurus on Samhain, October 31st. As an October baby, I LOVE Halloween and typically we have a big fiesta at our house celebrating this day and the season of the Dead that it ushers in. This year it will be different. We will be out on the land I grew up on, there will be bonfires and candy, the sweet scent of copal burning and offerings for the faeries, there will be sugar skulls and white bones, and blessings for and from our Beloved Dead. Back at home, my front steps will have some candy and books available for those who do venture out. It’s not the Halloween I was hoping for or expecting, but it does call back so many memories from my youth as this entire year has done.

And then the Wheel will turn and the cycle will begin anew.

From our family to yours ~ shine on, sweet Miracles!

Holy Helper Mercury

Foundations

H

e (Holy Helper Mercury) is the fleet footed one, quicksilver tongue, knowing and speaking all the languages that ever were or ever will be. The idea that turns into a story that grows into a life, every tale ever told, every lie ever uttered, every truth ever hidden. He is the shapeshifter taking on whatever form he will, the one who travels and tricks in equal measure, the love of good words and fantastic tale. He is the student, the teacher, and the road between them. He is the truth found only in darkness and the lie that sounds like pure truth. He is the clown, court jester, Koshare, Coyote jingle-jangling his way into the feast, completely inappropriate with rattle and hat, spitting watermelon seeds at all who are oh so serious and grave – in these moments he is the teacher of reverence. He is every book you have ever read and all of those you have not yet and never will. He is every word on every page and every speech ever made or unmade. He is sound and scent and the one who delights in all the winged ones. He is the very breath we take and the space between each breath. Love of Crossroads and roadways and all who travel, first of the Mages who knows all the ways of transformation, bending, twisting, talking, and turning. His nature is change. Find him in the wind promising the seasonal shift and the quiet breath exhaled in the deepest night to fan the final spark of the campfire and keep the tale going just a little bit longer. He is mouth, throat, tongue. He is a voice. And it is voice most of all that we offer to him — our voices, our words, our thoughts, our wisdom and foolishness and the promise to use them well, to make something beautiful, compelling, or interesting with them, as long as we are in the dance. You can burn incense to honor him, feed birds or butterflies, put on good perfume. But what he likes best, as all of us who serve him know, is the telling of a good tale. Sit down, take a breath, begin the spell…once upon a time… holy helper mercury

Star Stories: July 2020

Ceremony and Ritual

A

strology for July 2020

Note for July: Mercury turns direct and a trio of Sun oppositions give us the flavor for July which is festive, forward-facing, and overall moving in a positive direction despite a few snags here and there. This month also holds a few moments where truly deep healing can occur.

7/1: Saturn retrogrades out of Aquarius and back into Capricorn. This is Saturn’s last hurrah in its home turf of Capricorn until it returns in about 30 years. Any final lessons that you have been working on under the guidance of Saturn for the past two years come home to you in the deepest way between now and December 17th.
Ask: What disciplines do I need to review?

7/4: Full Moon + Lunar Eclipse at 13 degrees Capricorn, 11:55 PM. Some ideas for how to work with the Full Moon can be found here: https://brianasaussy.com/how-to-honor-the-full-moon/ and here: https://brianasaussy.com/six-months-of-magic-every-full-moon/
Ask: What mastery should be celebrated?

7/4: Lunar Eclipse at 13 degrees Capricorn at 11:44 PM
Ask: Where am I resistant to developing mastery?

7/8: Mercury square Mars. This aspect reminds all of us – if you cannot say something nice then don’t say anything at all!
Ask: Where do I need to remain quiet?

7/12: Waning Quarter Moon at 3 degrees Aries, 10:24 PM. A reminder that this is a great time to banish: https://brianasaussy.com/what-are-you-really-banishing/
Ask: What weapons am I ready to put down?

7/12: Mercury Direct!!!

7/12: Sun trine Neptune. This is a lovely and gentle aspect that makes us all feel kinder towards each other. You may find that this day feels like everything is aligning just as it should and it is an especially auspicious day to donate to a charitable cause.

7/14: Sun opposed to Jupiter. New opportunities beckon but staying realistic about chances and probabilities is key.
Ask: What previously unseen opportunity is asking for my attention?

7/15: Sun opposed to Pluto. This opposition highlights the places where you have knowingly or unknowingly restricted yourself when it comes to healing and personal power. At its best these places are illuminated and freed up so that you can work with them in a healthy manner.
Ask: What old wound is ready to be fully seen?

7/20: New Moon at 28 degrees Cancer, 12:33 PM. Here are Four Ways to Honor the New Moon just in case you missed them: https://brianasaussy.com/4-ways-honor-new-moon/
Ask: What home am I ready to create?

7/20: Sun opposed to Saturn. This opposition can leave us feeling like no matter how hard we try, we are never going to really get what we want. Take a breath and acknowledge that this is a moment in the story, not the entire story.
Ask: What would happen if I let go?

7/22: Sun enters Leo 3:37 AM
Ask: What do I roar for?

7/27: Waxing Quarter at 14 degrees Scorpio, 12:31 PM. This is the perfect time to brush up on your divination practice! https://brianasaussy.com/teaching/20-question-tarot/

Mercury Retrograde in Aquarius: Where the Weird Turn Pro

Uncategorized

Y

ou know the Hunter S. Thompson quote: “When the going gets weird, the weird go pro”? THAT is Mercury RX in Aquarius and actually kind of perfectly descriptive of Aquarius on a “normal” day. This retrograde can bring out potent visions of the future, radical miscommunications, and off the wall, off kilter ideas that might lead you directly to your genius. That’s how Mercury RX in Aquarius works.

Well, for starters it brings the distinct possibility that we will find ourselves in a disagreement/miscommunication among friends or our wider communities. Generally speaking the groups that we belong to will be especially effected once Mercury moves into Aquarius. This also gives us the opportunities to reevaluate our relationships to the various groups and associations that we have – do they still make sense? Do we want to take on a greater role/responsibility? Are we ready to hand responsibility off to someone else? These are just some of the questions that might emerge for you. Groups that are involved in activism, direct action protects, or other social justice movements (all very Aquarian) should be prepared for weird hiccups and misfires during this period.

The possibility of miscommunication is also present around technology. This can look like giving into the trolls on social media or your smart phone deciding to garble all of your texts for a week. Either way, it is important when Mercury is retrograde in Aquarius to keep an eye on your tech devices and to avoid any drama on social media.

Another aspect of this transit is the need to leave extra early in order to arrive on time. Aquarius is the sign of SURPRISE!!! And you never know what the surprise might be…detours are common and a lack of patience during this transit is NOT advisable. The solution: give yourself more time than you think you need. Worst case? You arrive early and can read a book for a few minutes!

Finally, when we go deeper into what a Mercury Retrograde in Aquarius can bring us we have to talk about the future. For Aquarius is the most future-facing sign of the Zodiac. It is very concerned with our personal futures as well as the collective future that we are creating for everyone. We can work proactively with this RX period by considering our future and reviewing what decisions we have made about it, what choices we are bringing to it, and how we want it to feel. Work with the time to get clear on what is next for you, and then get ready to make that next your now!

Hearth and Home Vol. 18: Know When to Hold ‘Em, Know When to Fold ‘Em

Ceremony and Ritual

M

iracles, fold ’em

Blessed New Moon in Scorpio! This October has been a magical month for the family, mostly because, for the first time since having one child in school full-time, I went into October KNOWING and EXPECTING that it would be busy, busy, busy.

For those of you who don’t have children in school, let me take a moment to explain. October, which happens to be the month when I celebrate my birthday and my anniversary, and the month when many of us witch-kind celebrate Samhain and (in my neck of the woods) the Days of the Dead, ALSO happens to be the month when every school and music function takes place as well. If you are not attending an event for your kids, then chances are you are attending one for someone else’s kids. This just IS an incontrovertible fact – you can’t fight it.

So this year, instead of resisting, I went in with the expectation that yes, every weekend would be busy and spoken for and that yes, with a little planning and a dose of magic, we would get our pumpkins carved and our Halloween tables set up before the mad rush on Thursday night. I knew too that Mercury was going into retrograde on the 31st, so I’ve made sure that we have all of our ducks in a row BEFORE the tricking and treating begins.

Underneath all of the day-to-day busy-ness of costume selection and school festival attending, I have been paying attention to the theme of a lineage that is always present for me, but especially so this time of year.

On my birthday this month, I had a big realization about a piece of the lineage puzzle for me that I had been consistently enchanting around for many years. The message came loud and clear from my Ancestors.

“You have done the work on this, now let GO.”
Well, I said to them, “I mean, I’ve done it this way but maybe if I tweak it this way…”
“NO. LET IT GO.”
“So I hear what you are saying, I really do but I also think that if…”
“Are we not making ourselves clear to you? LET IT GO.”

So I did. I dropped it, I stopped enchanting around it actively, and I re-set some of the long term work to address other things. The very next day I received a very clear sign that this had been the right move. All of which is to say that, as the country song says, you need to know when to hold ’em and know when to fold ’em.

The releasing work is also part of what it means to honor our ancestors and untangle our lineage. Interestingly, a few days after this occurred, I received another powerful message about a totally unrelated part of my lineage. My Beloved Dead are certainly active right now, as I know many of yours have been.

Since the last time I sent an update, I have received so many notes from people who are loving the two ongoing threads I have on FB: Find the Helpers and Magic Happens. If you need to follow something positive and inspiring, with the occasional interruption of silly or downright nerdy, then you will want to follow or friend me there. If you want to hear what is happening in book and business land, please like my page and join the newly re-vamped Sacred Artists group.

And…speaking of the book, if you have read it and enjoyed it won’t you please leave a review on Amazon? They really help other people find the book.

Oh! And more book news! I am very happy to announce that a work I contributed to, The Karma of Cats, is now out and available from Sounds True. Get it at your local bookstore or from Amazon. You can see a picture of our kittens and read about how they came into our lives and what they have taught us.

Our family wishes you a truly delightful Halloween, a blessed New Year for those who celebrate Samhain, and joy-filled Days of the Dead!
